¹⁴ They took their stand in the middle of the field. They defended it and slew the Philistines, for the Lord brought about a great deliverance.

¹⁵ Now three of the thirty captains came down to the cave of Adullam to be with David, while the army of the Philistines was camped in the Valley of Rephaim. ¹⁶ David was in the stronghold, and there was a Philistine outpost in Bethlehem.
